Wool gets thumbs up from Government

From the middle of the year, Government departments will welcome wool products under their feet and around the office.

The Government unveiled a new policy yesterday on woollen fibre usage directing 130 of its agencies to use woollen products when building or renovating from July 1.

Campaign for Wool NZ (CFWNZ) general manager Kara Biggs said this was just the news they had been hoping for and that it had come as a massive relief.

“We are ecstatic about this government policy. It’s this type of work that could really shift the dial for the entire New Zealand wool industry,” she said.
